Please give a warm welcome to two of our newest team members, Taryn King and Marci Gustafson! We are so excited to add them to our new BSW Real Estate team and can’t wait to witness their success in 2019!

Taryn King

Where are you from?
Boston, MA originally but moved out here and fell in love with Colorado in 2008.

What do you like most about Denver?
I think one of my favorite things about the Denver area is the fact that I can live 15 or 20 minutes from downtown and still own horse property! I really don’t think I could see myself living anywhere else. Not to mention the incredible weather, abundant outdoor adventures, and an active equestrian community!

What did you do before you became a REALTOR?
I was previously the purchasing and production manager for a high-end men’s shoe company; Rancourt & Co Shoecrafters in Lewiston, Maine. Balancing the demands and scheduling of clients as large as Polo Ralph Lauren & RedWing, and as small as boutique custom orders. I gained invaluable experience in managing many moving parts and meeting ever-changing deadlines in that career, yet I wasn’t truly passionate about the industry. Being a life long equestrian I also founded High Hope Ranch & Rescue here in Colorado in 2015. Since then we have been directly involved in saving the lives of over 300 horses, donkeys, and mules from shipping to slaughter in other countries. Colorado has allowed me to combine my love of horses and my love of houses into a unique career and business, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity.

What are you passionate about right now in your business?
I love this business and the fact that there’s always something or some way you can improve, learn, or grow. I’m so excited to be a part of this new direction for BSW Real Estate and can’t wait to see what this year holds for us, both individually and as a company.

What has been the most rewarding part of working for BSW Real Estate?
The culture and values that are at the heart of this company. Philanthropy and giving back to the community has been a continuous theme throughout my life, and I love that we can have such a positive impact on our communities as Realtors.

What has been your biggest challenge as a REALTOR?
There’s always someone or something I want to be helping, learning, attending, or doing! That whole work/life balance thing can certainly be a struggle for me, what can I say, I love what I do!

What is your favorite part of being a REALTOR?
How many people and lives we can potentially help! When I first bought a house in Maine I was incredibly disappointed in my agent and felt lost and anxious most of the way to the closing table. I love that I can ensure my clients never have to go through that same experience in their next real estate endeavor.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
Well, horses of course! I compete in three-day eventing and dressage with two of my horses, Mia & Tobi, and still run a small rescue program rehabbing and retraining horses. If I’m not in the stable, I’m probably downtown exploring a new restaurant or up in the mountains snowboarding or hiking with my pup!

What is your favorite restaurant in Denver?
Colt & Gray or Beatrice & Woodsley are right up there, but Pizzeria Lui in Lakewood is definitely a guilty pleasure!

What’s one thing about you that many people may not know?
I have a metal plate and 5 screws in my left elbow, have dislocated both elbows, and have broken 5 bones over the years. All thanks to horseback riding.

Why should people work with BSW Real Estate?
This is one of the most professional organizations I’ve ever had the honor of being associated with. The level of genuine care and concern for our clients best interest is second to none and truly makes all the difference.

Marci Gustafson

Where are you from?
Golden, Colorado

What do you like most about Denver?
It’s my home state full of family and friends.

What did you do before you became a REALTOR?
I was a manager for a hair salon, a medical assistant, an REO Property preservation specialist and spent many years in the Title industry before I decided I wanted to be on the other side of the closing table and become a Realtor.

What are you passionate about right now in your business?
I would say my largest passion is the ability to build relationships thru Real Estate that I would not have done otherwise. I am a fairly quiet person who keeps to herself but this Career has given me the courage to branch out and make new friends and connections.

What has been the most rewarding part of working for BSW Real Estate?
The most rewarding part of being a Realtor is knowing I am helping people live their best lives and securing their dream of home ownership by really getting to know each and every one of the people I do business with and interact with. I truly want to make this the best and one of the most memorable events of their lives.

What has been your biggest challenge as a REALTOR?
Being more assertive in asking for referrals from past clients. I do not want anyone to feel like I made them use me to buy or sell a property. I want to have that connection that is not forced but comes naturally.

What is your favorite part of being a REALTOR?
The smiles and excitement of making their dreams a reality. Finally finding and getting that perfect home, whether it took 2 days or 9 months the hunt was worth the reward.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I bowl with some of my favorite people. I love to read and if I had my choice I would be with my granddaughter all the time. She is my favorite hobby :-).

What is your favorite restaurant in Denver?
That’s a tough one. Being a Colorado native I don’t know that I can pick just one. Small mom and pop shops like JC’s in Golden for breakfast (super disappointed that they took out Ralston Café) Lunch and Dinner, Olive Gardens good and so is El Senor sol and don’t forget Texas Roadhouse.

What’s one thing about you that many people may not know?
I don’t like big crowds of people they make me super anxious.

Why should people work with BSW Real Estate?
BSW Group has developed a culture that allows anyone of the group to be able to assist with anything Real Estate related. The collaboration among the group is phenomenal as they focus on developing their agents to be the most educated and knowledgeable in the industry. If you want a team that will work for you, your family, friends, and anyone else this is the team to rely on.
