Best Colorado Weekend Trips to Check Out this Summer

Tomorrow marks the first day of summer and we are lucky to live in such a beautiful place year-round. Denver is, of course, an amazing summer city, but there are plenty of great weekend trips to take this summer to fully live the Colorado life!

  • Crested Butte

    • You may have been to Crested Butte already for its incredible skiing, but if you haven’t visited in the summer you are missing out on the Wildflower Capital of Colorado. At 9,000 feet, you’ll have the prime view for the Alpenglow in the afternoon so make sure to check out Airbnb for rentals with a great view. During the day you can hike on up to Snodgrass Mountain or whitewater raft through Taylor Canyon. For the festival and music fans, plan your trip in July to catch the Crested Butte Music Festival!
  • Buena Vista

    • Buena Vista is just east of Collegiate Peaks and is a can’t-miss destination this summer. The kids will love Gold Rush Days in August filled with live music, a beer garden, the 3rd leg of Triple Crown Burro Race, a duck race, and toilet seat races – seriously, toilet seat races. For an adventure filled weekend go zip lining at Arkansas Valley Adventures or rafting in Buena Vista River Park. If you want to decompress from a long week at work hit up the Cottonwood Hot Springs and take in live music at The Beach.
  • Ouray

    • A lesser-known, but absolutely beautiful trip would be to the picturesque town of Ouray in the San Juan Mountains. Ouray provides the perfect mountain getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. Bear Creek Falls is a breathtaking hike with unbeatable views of cascades, while another suggested way to experience the Western Colorado views is on horseback with Action Adventures Trail Rides. Ouray has a rich mining history, which you can delve into at Bachelor Syracuse Mine or relax at the town’s very own hot springs park.
