A new year means we can leave the past behind and move on to what’s new and trendy! It’s never a bad idea to use the new year to hit the gym more, start that new diet, or try something new each day. We’ve covered the new restaurants to try in 2019, but don’t forget about your home decor too!
Patterned Kitchen Backsplashes
The first room most people think of to renovate or decorate is usually the kitchen. Just think about it – we spend so much of our time cooking or eating at home and any time we host friends or family, the kitchen is the ideal room for entertaining. Subtle touches in your kitchen can go a long way such as a backsplash. Simple, monotone backsplashes have had a good run, but this year we’re looking toward bold and patterned designs to take over. It’s time to add more pop and color to your kitchen!
While this year we want to be out with the old and in with the new, vintage has been trending recently and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere just yet! Boho is making a comeback thanks to its vintage charm, which has been a relatively new trend as of late. Layered and patterned boho designs with a modern twist are becoming hugely popular for their unique and colorful touches. Look for a combination of vintage and modern to start trending even more in 2019!
Bright and Open Rooms
More and more homeowners are looking to give their home a more open and airy feeling. Of the many ways to achieve this, light wood floors are making a comeback. Homeowner interest in light wood flooring is increasing due to the light shades of birch, beachy white, and light oak offering more light and comfort into a room. Another trend surfacing to allow bright and open rooms is 90% white and 10% color. The color of walls in a room can greatly affect your mood and having too bold of a color can have a negative impact. White is becoming more prominent while allowing color to be a complimentary, but not overpowering accent to a room.
Trends come and go with each year, which is why it’s so important to stay on top of what’s new and unique before it’s too late! Try out some of these new interior design trends in your home this year and you won’t be disappointed. After all, we spend so much time at home it’s always good to adapt and keep things fresh!
